Artisans of the Jade Empire have long toyed with mechanical contrivances, and some of their creations now challenge the notion that flight is solely the domain of feathered creatures. The arcane machines known as “flyers,” fueled by calculated magic and esoteric science, prove without a doubt that mankind need not be an earthbound race. Built by eccentric inventor Kang the Mad, the Marvelous Dragonfly is unique, even among flyers, for its ability to not only fly but also lift several passengers over incredible distances, outpacing the swiftest carts and runners. The ride is not gentle, but comfort is a minor point given the wonder of raising such a weight of metal into the air.
Most of the inventors behind these creations are often either quite mad or dead, inevitable side effects of the celestial energies they harness.
