Hi,
So I was poking around inside of JE, w/ some perl tools: ( http://www.kivinen.iki.fi/nwn/index.html If anyone is interested.)
It appears to recognize all the filetypes refered to in chitin.key, except one..
#3028.
They're only in audio.bif. And so unsurprisingly I'd _guess_ they're some sort of sound file.
They're binary, but they're not obviously WAV, nor OGG files. Acutally they're all kinda small to be PCM data of any sort..
Care to fess up what they are Bioware?

Quote: posted by Georg Zoeller It would need to be global if you can use it anywhere. Would be in one of the global files (global.rim, global.erf? global.bif?)
the important part of this quote is that rim and erf files are packages of other files. And since mr Zoeller mentions them along with .bif, Im guessing bif filetype is something similar. So I don't think it is an audio file, but a collection of files that possibly refer to where the audio files are/which one to play? |

Yes, ergo my mention of only being in audio.bif.
I know that RIM, and BIF files are container types, and I can extract the files out of them.
BIF files are indexed by chitin.key.
That's where I saw the file type #3028's. chitin.key references files of type #3028 stored in audio.bif.
The mesh files in players.mod also seem to be somewhat non-standard as well.. There's .MDL files, but nothing resemblying the usual .MDX files.
There is however a filetype #3016 (and possibly #3017) that seem related, however I can't seem to make heads nor tails of them.
(#3016, and #3017 seem to be .ZIP, and .WMP from NWN2 documentation, however, I don't think that's accurate. - Why would Silk Fox's meshes have a world map associated w/ her? )
And to think this only started cause I wanted to get rid of SF's veil....
